We are really looking forward to our annual printmaking exhibition reopening the gallery at 44AD artspace.
Due to current circumstances, the Private View will have an outdoor element with a refreshments bar and tables/seating available outside. Adhering to social distancing advice, guests will be able to enter the gallery in turn/view the artwork in small numbers.
Visitors entering the gallery will be asked to wear a face mask.
The outlook for 08 Aug is good weather, but if this does change, please be aware that we may reschedule the Private View event.
44AD’s Annual Open Printmaking Exhibition is now in it’s 6th year!
Our annual printmaking exhibition received a fantastic response from artists all interpreting the theme of ‘City and Stars’. The result is an exhibition which celebrates an exciting range of contemporary printmaking talent, working across handmade paper, acetate, textiles and wax installation.
From etching, monoprint, linoprint, woodcut, screen print, and drypoint to collagraph… this is an exhibition not to be missed!
Mary Rouncefield was introduced to the joys of print during an Art Foundation course at Bristol School of Art. Totally ‘hooked’ she has continued on with her investigations into print techniques and the possibilities of combining these with other media. She has been pleased to take part in previous editions of ‘Open print’ at 44AD.
Mary has been an enthusiastic participant at Upfest, the street art festival in Bristol in previous years, while Past exhibitions include the Jerwood Drawing Prize in 2007, ‘Titanic 100’ in New York.
The series ‘Mathematical Curves’ were most recently exhibited at the Portico Library and Gallery in Manchester and the influence of mathematical thinking can be seen in the mixed media piece ‘Sky Divers’.
In 2019, Mary worked with a reading research group at Edinburgh University, and Auris Tech on the production of ‘I’m a Raindrop - Where Did I Come From?’ This book aimed at young readers is part of an interactive reading ‘App’. It covers the water cycle and pollution issues in story form.
Most recently, Mary’s ‘artist’s book’; ‘Mr. Darcy’s Fan Club’ was recently exhibited at 44AD as part of the Commonwealth Society’s exhibition: ‘The Art of Communication’ in 2020.
