Phil Hendy, Anna Kot, Jon Leahy, Carlos Ordenez, Simon Taylor
This show being held at 44ad Artspace will not only be an opportunity to discover a high level and exciting range of photographic artworks created by 5 Bath based photographers, but is also a chance to learn more about Photo|Bath, a new collective being developed in the city.
Responding to a common theme, this show demonstrates the eclectic mix and breadth of style that photography can encompass: compare the twist of humour in Jon Leahy’s work, for instance, with the lyrical observations of Carlos Ordenez’s or the dramatic tones of Simon Taylor’s. And look closely into the abstract images of Anna Kot’s images and the unexpected combinations in Phil Hendy’s.
And it is this quality of work and creative vision that Photo|Bath is about. While generating a context for support for Bath based photographers, Photo|Bath also intends to promote photography as a legitimate art form. As well as creating opportunities for exhibitions, there will be, among other things, a series of talks, discussions, film screenings and regular opportunities to discuss ones own and others work, inviting feedback and stretching boundaries.
Being a new initiative, it is anticipated the exact nature will develop as joining members to the collective contribute ideas and express their desires. So take this chance to join now and become part of a growing body of documentary and fine art photographers and help create the picture of what can be.
For further information or to join, visit the photobath website or come and meet the artists and pick up a form from 44ad on Tuesday August 18th between 6.00 and 8.00 or during that week until 23rd.
